SINGAPORE, MARCH 29, 2007 – It’s no April Fool’s joke! A group of primary school students came together for a press conference on 29th March 2007 (Thu) to announce THE BIG HELP – a nationwide pro-social campaign launching on 1 April that will be run by kids, for kids.
As long as you are a kid between the ages of 2 to 14 and have a big heart, you can be a Big Helper! That’s the message from Nickelodeon, the world’s No. 1 kids’ television network, who hopes to empower kids with the ability and confidence to contribute to the community.
The Big Help provides a Splatform for kids to be actively involved in their communities through volunteering their time and effort. Started by Nickelodeon back in 1994 in the United States, the campaign reached Asian shores in 2002 and has since been met with a big thumbs-up.
Lending a big helping hand to the campaign this year are schools including Edgefield Primary School, St Gabriel’s Primary School and Australian International School, as well as partners National Library Board, Little Red Dot, Power98 plus 883 Jia FM radio stations, and TakeNote Media. Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah will add star power as Celebrity Big Help Ambassador and encourage kids to take part.
