Singapore, July 6, 2007 - Isn't it a bummer when you're stuck outdoors, under the blazing sun or a sudden downpour, without an umbrella? And it doesn't help if you are loaded with lots of shopping bags. Here comes the good news! Come Saturday July 14 from 2 to 4 pm, our very own Nickelodeon's Operation Big Help Orange Squad will be stationed along Singapore's prime shopping belt - Orchard Road, to help tourists and pedestrians get from mall to mall with no sweat at all.
Called the "Share-An-Umbrella Day", it is one of the many sharing initiatives under The Big Help, a kids-driven pro-social campaign brought to you by Nickelodeon. Other sharing activities include "Share Your Idea!", "Share Your Pocket Money!" and "Share Your Knowledge!" to get kids up to 14 years old to volunteer their time and effort in contributing to their communities.
SHARE AN UMBRELLA
Making up the Operation Big Help Orange Squad are 30 kids from the St Gabriel's Primary School, who will be accompanied by a chaperon. These kids will offer umbrella ferrying services with their bright and cherry orange brollies, from Ngee Ann City to The Paragon.
And each time they begin their umbrella ferrying service, these kids will kick start with a resounding "Big Help" whistle cheer, accompanied by loud drum beats, to spread The Big Help spirit amongst both kids and adults! Along the route, these kids will explain their act of sharing and record the completed activity in their Operation Big Help Project Sheet, where they stand to be awarded with a Big Help Certificate and a Big Helper Badge. That's not all! These kids will also be helping to spread the word on The Big Help and encouraging other kids and the public to participate in The Big Help too.
JOIN THE OPERATION BIG HELP
SHARING is all about giving a part of something that you've got. It's the key to building long-lasting friendships because it shows that you care enough to share. Not only does sharing make others happy, it makes you feel good too. And the best part is, it doesn't take much to share. When you share, you are making a difference, no matter how big or small!
Operation Big Help makes it easy for you to get started - all you have to do is to download a copy of the Operation Big Help Project Sheet (Download Hi-res, Low-res). Simply complete 5 (or more - the merrier!) sharing acts, fill in the necessary details, and get a teacher or parent to sign the sheet. Submit the form before July 31, and you'll be awarded the Big Help Certificate and a Big Helper Badge.
